← QR Bridge
QR Bridge collects nothing. There is no network code in the app — no analytics, no crash reporting, no accounts, no servers. Nothing you do in QR Bridge leaves your device unless you deliberately share a file yourself.
This policy explains what QR Bridge (“the app”) does with your data. It is published by Z Tech | زی تێك (“we”, “us”), and applies to the iOS and Android versions of the app.
What the app does
QR Bridge moves a file from one phone to another using only a screen and a camera. The sending phone converts your file into a stream of QR codes and displays them. The receiving phone reads those codes with its camera and rebuilds the file.
That is the entire mechanism. There is no internet connection, no Bluetooth, no Wi-Fi Direct, no cable and no pairing step anywhere in it.
Information we collect
None. We do not collect, receive, store, transmit, sell or share any personal information, usage data, device identifiers, diagnostics or analytics.
We cannot do so even in principle: the app contains no networking code, declares no internet permission on Android, and makes no outbound requests on either platform. There is no back end to receive data and no account system to attach it to.
Camera
The receiving side of the app needs camera access to read the QR codes on the other phone's screen. When you tap Receive, the app asks for permission and explains why before the system prompt appears.
- The camera feed is processed on your device, in memory, purely to detect QR codes.
- No photo, video, frame or still image is ever recorded, written to storage or transmitted.
- The camera runs only while the receiving screen is open, and stops as soon as a transfer completes or you leave.
- If you decline camera access, the sending half of the app still works normally.
You can revoke camera access at any time in your device settings.
Your files
Sending. When you choose a file, the app reads it from your device to encode it into QR codes. If you choose to shrink an image, a smaller copy is written to your device's temporary folder and used instead of the original. Your original file is never modified.
Receiving. Files that arrive are written into the app's own private documents folder, in a subfolder named qr-bridge. They stay on your device. They are not indexed, uploaded or backed up by us.
To move a received file anywhere else, you use the Save or share button, which opens your operating system's own share sheet. What happens after that is governed by whichever app or service you choose to send it to — for example Files, Photos, or a messaging app — under that provider's own privacy policy.
Deleting QR Bridge removes its documents folder and everything in it.
Permissions the app requests
- Camera — to read QR codes while receiving. Nothing else.
- File access — only through your operating system's own document picker, and only for the single file you select. The app cannot browse your storage on its own.
The app also keeps the screen awake and raises screen brightness while a transfer is running, because a dim or sleeping screen loses frames. Neither involves any data.
Third-party services
The app itself uses no third-party analytics, advertising, attribution or crash-reporting services.
The app is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Those platforms may collect their own data about downloads, purchases and crashes independently of us, under their own policies:
We receive only the aggregate, anonymised sales and crash statistics those platforms show every developer. We cannot identify individual users from them.
Children
QR Bridge is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. Because the app collects no information from anyone, it collects none from children either.
Security
Every transfer carries a SHA-256 checksum of the original file, which the receiving phone verifies and reports on, so you can tell whether what arrived matches what was sent.
Note that QR codes displayed on a screen are, by their nature, visible to anyone and anything that can see that screen. QR Bridge does not encrypt the file contents. Treat a transfer as you would treat holding a document up to the light — do it somewhere you are comfortable being seen.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted at this address with an updated date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
